Vincent A. Fulmer is an economist and a recognized national advocate of entrepreneurship. He is a co-founder of the M.I.T. Enterprise Forum and currently serves on the executive committee of the Cambridge Forum.
He has served on the boards of some thirty-five entities, including 20 early stage companies, several universities and not-for-profit organizations, and three public companies – – Termiflex Corporation, Aerodyne Corporation, and Moleculon Biomedical Company. In 1990 he was the founding chairman of the Technology Capital Network at M.I.T., and in 1981 he was a co-founder with the Tate Milton Stewart of the Small Business High Technology Institute (SBHTI) of Washington D.C. and Arizona to monitor federal agency practices in awarding SBIR grants for research.
Mr. Fulmer is currently a board member of Fiberspar Corporation (19 years), Control Air, Inc., (22 years), Barbour-Stockwell Incorporated (10 years) and is also a Member of Beacon Investment Partners, LLC. The latter firm is being organized to assist early stage companies secure funding through the public securities markets including the Toronto Stock Exchange and starting with the formation and establishment of the Beacon Business Development Company.
Vincent Fulmer spent 35 years in the M.I.T. administration with special responsibilities for relations with industry. In 1963 he became the youngest person ever elected as a Vice President of M.I.T., at age 35. He later served as Secretary of the M.I.T. Corporation responsible for general university governance and university affairs. He took early retirement from M.I.T. in 1986 and went on to serve as President of Nathaniel Hawthorne College, 1986-91, in the closing years of that New Hampshire institution. Throughout his career he has authored numerous reports, articles and book chapters. His most recent publication, early in 2010, is a jointly authored article published by the Beacon Hill Institute of Suffolk University entitled ”The Massachusetts Scratch Ticket Lottery, Truth in Advertising Travesty.”
